ABOUT RACHEL

Learning and teaching are not only important, but defining aspects in the life of Rachel Mamiya Hernandez. She is a professor of Portuguese, Spanish, and Latin American and Iberian Studies at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. Rachel holds a BA cum laude in Latin American Studies, an MA in Second Language Studies with a concentration in Language Teaching, and a PhD in Learning Design & Technology. Some of her interests include Portuguese and Spanish L2 acquisition and pedagogy, Project-based learning, Online Intercultural Exchanges, social justice, gamification, and instructional design.

 

In her free time she enjoys practicing yoga, dancing, and spending time with her family and friends.
